I'm supposed to be studying right now, since I have 3 exams tomorrow, and 3 more after that. But I can't help it, I was so disturbed by my disgusting discovery. While enjoying a cold glass of apple juice, I wondered at some particulate matter floating around my drink. So I thought, ' why don't I open my box of HARVEY FRESH 100% Australian-made Apple Juice' (I suggest you don't buy this brand of apple juice anymore). Lo and behold, I found this ugly crinkled piece of only-God-knows-what that looked strangely like a cross between dura mater (the outermost covering of the brain and spinal cord) and fungus-in fected cat skin just floating happily around in the apple juice: 
Up close, the yellowish part on the left really looks like fungal growth (di ko lang kasi macapture sa camera ko)
I still don't know what it is, if you can identify it, please tell me. And seriously, don't buy Harvey Fresh 100% Australiam-made apple juice.

Alam mo, mukhang frog skin e... Rana pipiens. Tama! Mukha ngang balat ng palaka yan. Bakit hindi mo pinost yung Hi Res photos para mazoom in namin at makita yung balat ng palaka.
Hmmm... Parang makapal naman masyado kung dura mater. mukha talagang balat ng palaka. Rana pipiens. Tama.
Pero teka. Hindi pa rin nabubulok yung balat niya. Kaya teka. Hindi kaya madaming preservatives yung apple juice?

 | sick! didn't it (the juice) have a funky taste? anyway it looks like decaying skin..like it was peeled off from a hand or something. but, yeah, it could be the apple peel? although covered in fungus/i.. did the box have a contact number of the company or something? you can get paid.. :) |

 | It's a common kind of fungus that is present in most apple juice. Most things are contaminated with spores whether you know it or not, but pasteurization + proper refrigeration often kill most spores and suppress the growth of the ones that survive. These fungal blooms happen when the juice is stored improperly, such as if the container isn't sealed or if it is left unrefrigerated for too long, and the opaque packaging really only encourages this growth. Nothing to be too alarmed over, honestly. Just don't drink juice from boxes. |
